BabyLegs giveaway… *CLOSED*

We love BabyLegs, here at Letters to Ames! I was thankful to acquire a couple of pairs before Ames was born. I couldn’t wait to snuggle my son into those sweet leg warmers, lil’ cloth-diapered butt hangin’ out. Much to my dismay, though, we did not get to enjoy his Christmas-themed BabyLegs. They were huge on my little chicken!
Only after he grew into them did I discover that BabyLegs offers Newborn sizes! I knew our next baby would have leg warmers that fit from day one. Thankfully, BabyLegs gave us a head-start when they sent us a sampling of their products to review. The sisters will each enjoy a pair of girly Newborn leg warmers. We also received baby socks in Sweet Tooth & Fresh. How darling?!
In addition to blessing my family, this great company is sponsoring a giveaway on the blog…One of you is going to win a BabyLegs grab bag! Simply “Like” BabyLegs on Facebook and leave your name & email address in the comments below. I’ll draw a winner this Friday, March 4.
The sweetness doesn’t stop there, though. Y’all get a 20% discount at the BabyLegs store for the next month! Use the code LETTERSTOAMES when checking out. Be sure to show BabyLegs some love on Twitter, too!

And as always, we appreciate your votes!

i cannot wait to dress my lambs

I’ve caught the bug… I’m so excited to dress the sisters! I’m particularly fond of traditional dresses – vintage or not, I love these short little smocked numbers.

I’ve started a little collection, keeping a budget of less than $5 per dress. My mom saved some from my babyhood, too. I love the fact that we won’t necessarily need bloomers… A little cloth-diapered butt will jazz up a dainty frock in no time!

Yesterday, I scored my first matching outfits (along with a few other darling items) at a consignment sale sponsored by Charlotte Mothers of Multiples.

I’m off on another shopping adventure today. Yesterday, I received a call from Once Upon a Child – I’ve got a $25 store credit! This morning, I’m on the hunt for my boy. Ames needs some shorts for this spring weather we’re racing towards. Happy weekend, friends!

miss monkey’s boutique giveaway *CLOSED*

Ames is a fantastic sleeper and has practically never been sick. He’s rarely fussy or grumpy, either. Aside from the part where’s he’s 2% on the growth chart, the kid is practically perfect in every way. Hey, at least his clothes fit longer!

I know I’m probably cursing myself with the twins. I’m definitely preparing for the worst. There’s going to be TWO of them, they’re GIRLS, and Ames is EASY! I like to think a lot of it has to do with his personality. Maybe it’s because his daddy spends so much time with him. Chris is always so relaxed and easy-going, and Ames mirrors him perfectly. Maybe it’s the fact that he was born at home and breastfed for a year. Or that he eats mostly organic, saw a chiropractor three times a week for a year, and hasn’t been vaccinated… am I annoying you yet?

Okay, his awesome personality & health is probably not entirely due to his birth story or diet or my boobs, but I am a firm believer in the magic of his amber necklace. Baltic amber (basically old tree sap) contains healing properties in the sense that it releases succinic acid when laid against warm skin. Amber provides pain relief & comfort for everyone from teething babies to arthritic adults. With its immune-boosting anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties, amber has been used in Europe for hundreds of years. It’s like super-jewelry! Told you – it’s magic.
When Ames was four months old, we bought an amber necklace from Miss Monkey’s Boutique. Since then, he’s worn it almost every day. We only remove it at bath time. It’s important to know that the necklaces are not to be chewed on. To prevent this, they can be wrapped around little ankles. This is also a good solution for parents who are uncomfortable with their babies sleeping with something around their necks. To clean, simply wet the necklace with warm water, roll the beads between your hands, and lay flat to dry.
Miss Monkey’s Boutique offers amber certified from the Baltic region, so you know you’re getting the good stuff. Ashley, the owner, attests to the benefits of amber here. Her necklaces and bracelets come double-knotted between each bead, making it safer for playful hands. If a baby tugs too hard and manages to break the jewelry (which is rare), you won’t be chasing after a whole string of amber nuggets. Oh, and Ashley will work with you on getting a replacement. She takes excellent care of her customers!
Miss Monkey’s Boutique is having a blow-out sale this Saturday, February 26. There will be raffle drawings and sales of up to 60%! If you aren’t fortunate enough to live near one of her two locations, feel free to shop online. Besides amber jewelry, Miss Monkey’s is one of the area’s leading retailers of cloth diapers, toys, babywearing gear, and other natural-living products!
In the meantime, though, I’m proud to announce a giveaway through Letters to Ames…
We’re giving away THREE amber necklaces this week! Winner chooses size & color.
Simply “Like” Miss Monkey’s Boutique on Facebook. Then come back & tell me you did so, in the comments below! I will draw 3 winners February 26, the day of the big sale.
I’d also love it if you gave us 2 clicks for a vote on TopBabyBlogs.
Totally not required, but appreciated if you like the blog.

Thanks, guys! Good luck!

Diapers, Etc. giveaway *CLOSED*

As I mentioned in my diapering update, we’ve streamlined our cloth diaper stash. Since Ames’ birth, we’ve tried almost every cloth diaper on the market. I’ve enjoyed the journey, and I’ve learned a lot! After several months & another positive pregnancy test, though, we decided to go back to the basics. Our favorite diaper is the Goodmama fitted, but they are expensive and we’re building that stash slowly. In the meantime (and regardless), nothing beats a fluffy butt in a prefold.

What I love about prefolds:
Absorbent. Softer with each wear & wash. Picture an old t-shirt.Cost-Effective. Can be found for less than $1/dipe. Hello, twins?!Simple Laundry. No stuffing, assembling, or untangling Velcro. Pull ’em out & go.

Perfect fit. Can be adjusted easily. Chris has mastered a custom Ames-fold.

Natural fibers. No skin (or stink) issues. We occasionally go coverless at home.

Up until now, we’ve only used unbleached Indian cotton. But thanks to Diapers, Etc., we recently received a few BabyKicks Hemparoo Fleece prefolds to try out. Goodness, these badboys are soft! Hemp is naturally antimicrobial, and fleece wicks away moisture. Genius!
