IT’S BEACH WEEK!

First, we’ll spend the weekend in Wilmington, NC. My side of the family is having a reunion. All of my grandfather’s living siblings will be there, with their respective family tree generations. My sweet Papa keeps a handwritten genealogy that goes as far back as the Mayflower, so it’s always neat to see the faces line up with names. It’ll be sweet to introduce the babies to so many of their family members, too.

Then we’ll drive several hours north to the Outer Banks, to spend a week with Christopher’s family. I haven’t been up there since I was a kid, and I’m pretty sure we’re going to take a ferry to get to our beach house. The kids will freak! I’m so glad my sisters-in-law picked it this summer. I’m even more grateful that they invited us along. There are so.many.children. Our kids always have a blast with their cousins.

We’ve never been on a such long vacation before… see ya in eight days or so! Our pups, house, and garden are in good hands – thanks, Kati! My “paid time off” has been cashed in at work, and Chris has made arrangements at church. I don’t plan on blogging, although I might take my computer. I’ll play it by ear.

Y’all have a great week!

Have a blast my friends:) The Outer Banks is a dream of mine…. closest to anything like it was when I went to Bald Head a few months ago…and everyone says it pales in comparison to the OBX. I can’t even imagine! Live it up and relax! Y’all deserve it:)

It was beautiful! At times, it felt like a different country altogether.

Was your family actually on the mayflower? The sweet couple that set Scott and I up (Laura and Paul Slingerland) I used to work with both of them at McLean Bible Church and they both played music and are on one of Scott’s CDs. Well both of their relatives were on the mayflower. They even have paperwork :-) maybe your related! How neat would that be

Yes! My grandfather has a handwritten family tree, and he passed out updated copies at the reunion!

Have a safe and joyful trip! Take lots of pictures, can’t wait to hear all about it. Nothing like playing with cousins at the beach – some of my fondest memories involve sand, sun and cousins!

I grew up with only a few cousins. Although beach trips were sweet, the ones with my husband’s family are INSANE! There are never less than 10 at each event, and it’s so much fun to watch them love on each other.
