avery is ten.

When I met Chris, his baby boy was two years old – the exact age, to the month, that Ames is now. He turned ten on our beach trip, and we celebrated with ice cream and family. It blows my mind to have been around Christopher Avery as long as I have, but it’s been such an honor.
His mom has always said the same thing about him, and it’s true – what you see is what you get. He is vibrant and full of life. He is tender and full of affection. He is wide open to the world. He loves to serve, and rarely a day goes by without him asking, “Can I help with anything?” His memory is sharp like a tack, and he soaks up knowledge like a sponge.
First, he was the baby. Then, he became the middlest. Today, he is an elder. And I can say with confidence that I am proud to have him co-leading the little ones through childhood.
