TWELVE.

It’s hard to believe a year has passed since his eleventh birthday.
This boy is twelve, going on forty.

Lucas is into:

his iPhone
skinny pants (not jeans)
anything related to football
his new shortboard cruiser
a certain middle school girl
working with the preschoolers at church

Although he could certainly stand to improve day-to-day relations with Avery, he’s ridiculously patient and selfless with Ames. I don’t think Lucas has enjoyed a snack or dessert to himself since Ames started on solids, and he doesn’t seem to mind a bit. He chooses to sit between the twins in the car, so that he can buckle them in and keep them entertained. He showers the sisters in compliments on a daily basis. When it comes to school, he’s so smart that he’s lazy. When it comes to family, he’d rather play a board game with us than watch TV. He’s one of the most thankful kids I’ve ever met, and he’s learning how to line up his lifestyle accordingly. He’s got the manners of a southern belle. He’s got his daddy’s build and his mama’s laugh.

He has taught me so much. I’m honored to be his stepmom. I’m thankful for his trust.
Happy Birthday, Lucas Grey. I love you!

Oh I love how you have captured the span of ages–older brother, younger brother…

My oldest is 18 and my youngest is 14 months. Seeing them together makes my heart ache (in a good way). Forces you to realize the importance of each moment and how quickly our little babies grow.

    Anyway, lovely capture:)

Life is pretty extraordinary isn’t it?
