the legacy of patience & hard work.

There are crooked walls and crooked floors. The windows are drafty and the kitchen outdated. Lightbulbs flicker at meal time and we’ve taken a few crash courses in plumbing. I miss my garbage disposal and dishwasher, but there is something beautiful about the community that happens when we’re hand-washing after dinner. I miss my concrete driveway, but there is something sacred about Papa teaching us to lay gravel.

There might be years’ worth of work ahead of us in this old farmhouse, but the process is precious and we’re taking our time.

I wish I could be there to see this whole process!! And I can’t think of anything better than sitting on the porch with you and the family after I help with the dishes:)

It is so beautiful & I love the simplicity of it — although, I’d probably REALLY miss having a dishwasher.

I just stumbled upon your space and am so glad that I did! We have something similar only its a home away from home. The time and love that goes into it is what makes it so special. Cant wait to watch your progress!
