miss monkey’s boutique giveaway *CLOSED*

Ames is a fantastic sleeper and has practically never been sick. He’s rarely fussy or grumpy, either. Aside from the part where’s he’s 2% on the growth chart, the kid is practically perfect in every way. Hey, at least his clothes fit longer!

I know I’m probably cursing myself with the twins. I’m definitely preparing for the worst. There’s going to be TWO of them, they’re GIRLS, and Ames is EASY! I like to think a lot of it has to do with his personality. Maybe it’s because his daddy spends so much time with him. Chris is always so relaxed and easy-going, and Ames mirrors him perfectly. Maybe it’s the fact that he was born at home and breastfed for a year. Or that he eats mostly organic, saw a chiropractor three times a week for a year, and hasn’t been vaccinated… am I annoying you yet?

Okay, his awesome personality & health is probably not entirely due to his birth story or diet or my boobs, but I am a firm believer in the magic of his amber necklace. Baltic amber (basically old tree sap) contains healing properties in the sense that it releases succinic acid when laid against warm skin. Amber provides pain relief & comfort for everyone from teething babies to arthritic adults. With its immune-boosting anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties, amber has been used in Europe for hundreds of years. It’s like super-jewelry! Told you – it’s magic.
When Ames was four months old, we bought an amber necklace from Miss Monkey’s Boutique. Since then, he’s worn it almost every day. We only remove it at bath time. It’s important to know that the necklaces are not to be chewed on. To prevent this, they can be wrapped around little ankles. This is also a good solution for parents who are uncomfortable with their babies sleeping with something around their necks. To clean, simply wet the necklace with warm water, roll the beads between your hands, and lay flat to dry.
Miss Monkey’s Boutique offers amber certified from the Baltic region, so you know you’re getting the good stuff. Ashley, the owner, attests to the benefits of amber here. Her necklaces and bracelets come double-knotted between each bead, making it safer for playful hands. If a baby tugs too hard and manages to break the jewelry (which is rare), you won’t be chasing after a whole string of amber nuggets. Oh, and Ashley will work with you on getting a replacement.     I totally cannot express my want of winning this contest. We are SO short on money right now, and I’ve been wanting to get my 16 month old an amber necklace for a while now. She didn’t teeth at all until she hit 1, but man oh man, she’s been teething non stop since then. I would ADORE trying this!!!!

    I liked and voted for Miss Monkey’s Boutique. :) I appreciate the giveaway (and hope I win! haha) but I’ve got some constructive criticism…

    There is no link leading to Miss Monkey’s Boutique facebook page – I had to find it manually on facebook. It would also help if you provided a link to the Miss Monkey’s Boutique site (had to google it). I’m not sure whether you’re affiliated with the store, but just in case Ashley (the owner) is reading this – you really, *really* need pictures to go with your necklace descriptions. I, for one, would not even entertain the idea of spending $28.99 (+ $8.50 for shipping) for a necklace I haven’t even seen. Ashley, I’m sure your necklaces are lovely, but one can’t tell that from looking at your site.

    The site’s design is fun and refreshing, but I’d recommend against using the Comic Sans font (it’s kind of a cliche from way back in the ’90s) or using HUGE font – like on your “The Benefits to wearing Amber!” page. One last thing – the long text menu bar on the left side isn’t very appealing. It would be better if you split them into categories (jewelry, patches, toys, miscellaneous) and split those into sub-categories – and had the menu in a picture format. (Kind of like when you go through the My Pictures file on your computer and display the images as large icons.)

    Here is hoping Ashley will somehow read this – otherwise I just wasted 5 minutes of my life lol. (Wouldn’t be the first time, though.)

    Grig, not sure what kind of browser you’re using, but:

    – There IS a link to Miss Monkey’s Facebook page on this post.
    – There IS a link to Miss Monkey’s site on this post (several, actually).
    – Miss Monkey’s site DOES show pictures of her amber jewelry.
    – Because her store services mostly local clientele, she’s not obsessive about running a high-tech site. Fortunately, she works hard to keep it up-to-date with her products!
