SEVEN WEEKS – MARCH 2009

Chris & I decided that if we got pregnant, it would be an adventure worth taking. We weren’t doing anything to stop it, but I was new to the game and wasn’t expecting much. Little did I know…

One night, Chris called me “Preggo Nancy” so many times, it got me to thinking. I picked up a 2-pack of pregnancy tests the next morning, and took one without telling him. It was positive. Holy crap. It was positive?! I drove straight to his work and asked him to go into the back office. He wouldn’t. So I pulled the thing out of my pocket and showed it to him. He looked shocked, but a huge smile quickly formed on his face. I left shortly after, because I was shocked and embarrassed. We’re pregnant?! But we’ve only been married a month and half! And the first month was very, VERY hard! Good grief!

Over the next few weeks, we took a few more tests and got used to the fact that yes, we were expecting a little one…you! We’d found out at just under four weeks gestation. I had my dates down pretty solid, so I felt confident in giving you a due date right around Halloween.

We told my parents at dinner one night, and his family at a birthday party for Lucas. We gave Lucas a onesie that said, “Born in 2009.” Everyone has been very supportive, and only somewhat surprised. Most of our friends saw it coming. We taped pictures of with the positive pregnancy tests on their front doors. It was a fun week. We’ve decided not to tell the world for a few more weeks though.

We’re having a baby! You’re our baby! Oh my gosh!

OK! What I had said @ 3;33 am was brisk and clean because I was wide awake,[a family habit handy for bottlethebaby or stokethefire time] its an hour later and I am going back to sleep any minute, but the essence of what I had in mind was; GREAT GOING GREAT GRANDCHILD RACHAEL! You’ve got it. You have grasped what God had in mind about the joy of sex. You saw, you were attracted, you obstained, you married, you reflected God’s image and you joined him in creation!! Wonderful!!! I love you, I love your husband, I love your children: past, present and future. Papa
